“The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives.” Esther Perel
I help individuals and couples create healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
If you want to process and heal following a breakup, improve or repair your relationship as a couple, or understand yourself better in the myriad relationships of your life,
this is the foundation of my work. Relationships are hard. No one has all the answers but working together in therapy offers a fresh perspective, new skills, and a path forward.
Some of the main reasons people seek relationship counselling:
- communication difficulties
- substance use
- broken trust or infidelity
- difficulty with boundaries
- family of origin issues
- grief, loss and bereavement.
Relationship counselling tends to be productive. When clients express their thoughts and feelings in a safe and professional setting, along with their hopes and fears, they are usually able to clarify issues or the steps to take. They open up to new awareness and skills, and new possibilities for moving forward.
"Not all addictions are rooted in abuse or trauma, but I do believe they can all be traced to painful experiences." Gabor Maté
– Individuals
Is your alcohol or substance use affecting your quality of life in noticeable or more subtle ways? Do you want to make changes to your lifestyle but not sure how to get started? Are you newly in recovery, looking for professional support to stay on track? People reach out for help at many stages. As an experienced, certified Addiction Counsellor, I start where you are and go at your pace. I work with proven methods for increasing motivation and behaviour change including Motivation Enhancement Therapy, practical tools from SMART Recovery, and Relapse Prevention strategies. I provide an accepting and non-judgemental space to listen to your story. I’ll provide education and perspective as needed, work with you to set goals, and integrate the relevant therapeutic support.
– Families
Are you a partner or family member of someone with problem substance use? Are you worried or unsure about what do? Fear of stigma remains the biggest barrier to taking action and yet, with each step forward, things become more “figureoutable”. As a therapist with direct experience in this area, I help determine best strategies and coping skills to match your unique needs. With counselling, partners/families gain knowledge and tools to problem solve, confidence to navigate the situation, and emotional support.
"One of the hardest lessons in life is letting go. Whether it's guilt, anger, love, loss or betrayal. Change is never easy." Mareez Reyes
Are you feeling depressed or anxious because a relationship has ended? Have you lost a loved one? Or a job? Life transitions are one of the main reasons people come to therapy. Our culture expects people to “be strong and carry on” but usually, that doesn't honour the person. It takes time to process and integrate big life changes and only you can sense what you need. I offer a gentle and compassionate space to support you through the transition. Whether it's trying to make sense of what happened, processing emotions or trauma, or learning new life skills, I'll support you where you are right now.
"The path to wholeness and healing often begins with brokenness." Estelle Frankel
What is Spiritual Psychotherapy? Clients are often intrigued by this concept.
It is an integrative and holistic approach to healing that helps people access their true selves. It often uses experiential tools to help people connect with deep feelings, thoughts, and beliefs. In my work, I blend Eastern wisdom with Western Psychology using the chakra system as the underlying framework. Usually, we begin with the idea of flow. Is your life in flow or are you blocked? What is behind the blocks? Limiting beliefs? Issues of self-worth? Spiritual Psychotherapy facilitates self-discovery and the journey home to our inner selves, helping people become more self-accepting and empowered.
"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it."
Maya Angelou

“Where you look affects how you feel.” David Grand
Brainspotting is an advanced brain body technique for healing emotional trauma, anxiety, depression and PTSD. Discovered by Dr David Grand in 2003, Brainspotting provides a simple, neurobiological tool that can locate, process and release experiences and symptoms out of reach of the conscious mind. It is one of the few techniques that effectively addresses the root cause of psychological stress and trauma. It is based on the premise that where you look, or your eye position, correlates with deep-seated emotional experiences that are typically unreachable by traditional talk therapy.
